The jobs we do are often associated with terms such as 'earning a living' and 'making ends meet'. This way of working by merely principles and rules leads to futility because it separates us from the person of the King and any fruit from His kingdom. Jesus emphasises this truth in John 15:5,
‘I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.' (MSG)
Together with Christ!
But when we work to reflect our Creator in relationship with Him, the end product is refreshingly different.
It's then that our labours become extraordinary creative activities.
You see, God has designed each one of us to be significant in creative activity, as Jesus affirms here,
"You did not call me, but I called you to bear fruit - fruit that will last."
(John 15:16)
Eternally significant!
God's gift of significance to us is not just about feeling good now. Being in-Christ has eternal consequences. Our work with God becomes. not temporal or fleeting, but something that will last forever!
